Old film of New York City in the year 1911. Print has survived in mint condition. Slowed down footage to a natural rate and added in sound for ambiance. This film was taken by the Swedish company Svenska Biografteatern on a trip to America

  2. Wow it's so weird how relaxing watching these videos are, like I'm being transported back to this time frame. I literally feel a change in my emotional state

  3. Albeit, the ppl dressed handsomely and classy back then, but it had to be hot under all that garb, and the smells of the horses and streets!!! How different we dress today.

  4. Chief: "Officer Miller, we just got a report. Some guy robbed an old lady a few minutes ago on 6th Ave. Find him and bring him to justice!"
Miller: "Will do, sir. What does he look like?"
Chief: "Let me check… White male, black suit, white shirt and a hat… ah, forget it, better bring me a coffee!"

  5. Incredibly eerie. Arouses existential anxiety and lament. All of these people are dead now. 100 years from now, if we survive this long as species (which is doubtful), our ancestors will have access to perfect, clean, high quality footage of ourselves in 3D colour. It will be even more eerie because it will be incredibly realistic, no need to add sound. We will be long gone but still speaking to our ancestors from the digital media. All we are is information. There is no special reason why the matter that makes up your brain and body, and not any other matter is you. Matter is all made up of identical protons, neutrons and electrons which inspires in us thoughts of possible immortality through digitization of information encoded in our neurons, brings up thoughts about the metaphysical molecular teleportation dilemma. If all we are is information – immortality is achievable in principle and will, one day become reality.

  6. Extraordinary video of New York. The adjusted speed and the added sound is mind blowing. At 6:07 one can see the Singer Building which was torn down in 1968. What a shame.

  7. LOVE these videos but always kind of creepy- like watching a bunch of ghosts. Up until the 30s or so, had that same vibe. By the 40s things def got/looked a LOT more 20th century. The 40-60s looked basically the same. Wasnt until the 70s esp the mid 70s where things yet again abruptly changed. the *80s imo was the beginning of 'what' we still see today.
